Information for Medical Students

Cairns Sharehouse is a popular option for medical students undertaking practical placements at the Cairns Base Hospital. Students come from around Australia and overseas for various periods, from a few weeks to a few months to enjoy the practical aspect of their new profession. We accommodate students from a range of institutions, with some of our most recent students visiting from:

• James Cook University, Townsville (Physiotherapy)
• University of Newcastle (Diagnostic Radiography)
• Griffith University, Gold Coast (Nutrition & Dietetics).

We provide discounted rates to Cairns Base Hospital placement students in a selection of properties. The properties are all fully furnished and bedrooms feature study desks, wardrobes, private TV/DVD players and internet access.

The accommodation has been specifically setup for students travelling with just the bare essentials so practically everything is provided (just BYO towel for the shower!). We also include free meals every night and discounted rates at a range of eateries to help student budgets stretch as far as possible.

Our most popular property is The Martyn due to its excellent location. In just 15 minutes students can easily walk to the Cairns Base Hospital or into the main Cairns Central Shopping Centre to pick up their groceries.
