Depending on the property you choose; additional costs may apply for:

Booking Deposit

When you book a room with Cairns Sharehouse, you will be asked to pay a $50.00 booking deposit per person. This will be credited against your arrival balance when you check in. Please note if you wish to cancel your booking once the deposit has been received, a $50.00 cancellation fee per person applies and therefore the booking deposits will not be refunded.

Arrival Balance

Prior to arrival you will be asked to pay:

• First 2 week's rent (so you will not pay any rent in the first two weeks that you stay with us)
• Last 2 weeks rent in advance (so will not have to pay any rent in the last two weeks that you stay with us)
• Security deposit of $100* - $200* per person (returned upon check out subject to your room being left clean and undamaged).

We will also credit your $50.00 booking deposit against your arrival balance payment.

Any rent due between your first two weeks and last two week's rent, is paid weekly.

Our 'Sleep Easy' Guarantee

We are so certain that you will love living with us that we even offer a ‘sleep easy’ guarantee. If you check in and for any reason you are unhappy with your room, we will offer to move you to another room at no charge (if available) or refund your money (less the booking deposit paid to cover our costs). You just need to let us know within 4 hours of arrival.

Warning re: SCAMS

We warn all travellers to never prepay any rent or monies directly into any bank account via Western Union. We know of students and travellers who have found their own share accommodation via websites where individuals can advertise their rooms for rent. These are unregulated websites and travellers have paid large sums of money into bank accounts with assurance that they will be able to pick up their keys from a FEDEX location on arrival in Cairns. We strongly recommend that you ensure that you have the name of the bank account of the person who you are paying money into. Do not accept scanned passport copies or floor plans of the property - this is a SCAM. We know of one 'advertiser' on these websites who says she has had to go to London to see a family member but promises that the room will be there for you if you pay $500 before you arrive. Sadly we know of 3 students who did this and lost their money. Even if you don't book with Cairns Sharehouse, make sure you know where you are going, and that they give you full receipts and paper confirmation at all times.
