Cairns is beautifully located between the tropical rainforest and the world famous Great Barrier Reef!
For those who have fallen head over heels for the reef and want to expand on your skills, Cairns Dive Centre (CDC) offers a PADI Dive Master Traineeship (DMT) where you can volunteer for 40 days and pay just $550 for the course.
Note: you will have to pay $290 at the end of the year payable to PADI. Those two payments will be your total PADI Dive Master Course cost.
To compete the course, you must have the PADI Divemaster Requirements include the following:
– Professional Dive Medical AS2299
– Emergency First Response (EFR)
– PADI Rescue Diver Certificate
– 40 Logged Dives
If you do not have any of the above, CDC offers a variety of courses to help you get what you need.
They hold information sessions for the Divemaster Traineeship every Friday at 11am at 121 Abbott Street, Cairns.
Tip: We are often asked “how long does it take to become a dive master”. This program is 40 amazing days, not including the time taken to complete the requirements.
CDC also offers PADI Open Water courses if you are just getting acquainted with the amazing underwater world and the stunning Great Barrier Reef ecosystems.
We urge all of our guests to scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef at least once or try out Great Barrier Reef snorkeling before they leave Cairns!
Psssst… we will let you in on Cairns’ best kept secret on how to do some volunteer scuba diving here in Cairns, Queensland (scuba dive for free!). Visit CDC, Divers Den, Reef Encounter or other dive operators in Cairns to Scuba Dive for free (provided you have your certification) by volunteering as a hostie.
Lastly, remember to be responsible divers! Great Barrier Reef conservation is so important so that everyone can enjoy the reef’s beautiful sights and species!
